i'm leaving for lsu tomorrow, and it's bittersweet

i recently saw on facebook my old group of high school friends, and they're still tight knit, spend every waking moment with each other after a year. i still talk to one of them, but i feel awkward, like these said friends never really liked me during high school. we were all close during middle school, until i became my blunt self and made my snarky comments.

i'm afraid it will be that same with my friends at lsu. i go through periods of avoiding people, and the closer i get to people, the more i search their faults, the more belligerent i become. i eventually scare them off and push them away.

it's the same with relationships, probably the reason behind most of my failed relationships. i am very open and trusting of people at first, then slowly i lose my trust and close myself.

i hate myself right now, and i want to cry.

happy belated 4th everyone, i hope you all had a lovely mix of fireworks and hot dogs/pie/etc. the point of the 4th is to celebrate independence day, a day in which we established ourselves as a nation, drafting a constitution that our leaders still uphold today...or at least should

according to wall street journal, the obama administration issued a statement saying that they would continue to hold detainees indefinitely, even after they have been acquitted of terrorist acts, the rest of the article is located here

what bothers me is that the decision about the 229 detainees is scattered about, some being released, some having a right to a trial, and the rest being held without a trail. mr president apparently forgot amendment 7 which states: "In Suits at common law, where the value in controversy shall exceed twenty dollars the right of trial by jury shall be preserved, and no fact tried by a jury, shall be otherwise re-examined in any Court of the United States, than according to the rules of the common law."

shame on you mr. president, shame.

a new beginning

i decided to start a new blog. i have a livejournal that i've been keeping up with for 4-5 years and another blogger where i write my music reviews. this however will stay as stream of consciousness as possible, i guess to truly portray the human mind.

so as everyone who has a brain knows, president obama made a speech in cairo last night. personally i thought it was a great speech overall. my few complaints come from he not delving deeper into the push for democracy in the middle east, and also, while he mentioned Iran's nuclear program, he was silent about israel's nukes. click here if you would like to see the full video plus transcript.

this summer has been slow, for the most part. currently ive been trying to find a job and have been unsuccessful, and i've been counting the days until i leave for Corvallis, OR (41 to be exact.) today and tomorrow i have my sister's 8th birthday party to plan, followed by coldplay on tuesday.
